Three Ways To Manage an Organization
“There must be a better way of managing . . .”
Most organizational problems can be traced to poor structures and systems, not deficient employees. Fixing the structure frees employees to work at their full potential creating increased efficiency, effectiveness, and job satisfaction.
There are three ways to manage an organization, each with a unique authority structure:
For Profit = Hierarchy
- Decisions are made by command.
- Corporate Organization
- Goal is to make money
For People = Democracy
- Decisions are made by consensus.
- Non-Profit Organization
- Goal is to make a difference
For Purpose = Holacracy
- Decisions are made by consent.
- Social Enterprise Organization
- Goal is to make money, make a difference and have fun!
The Social Enterprise Organization
The social enterprise includes the benefits of hierarchy (clear decisions) and democracy (everyone has a voice) by minimizing their limitations with Holacracy. It is based on accountability and responsibility rather than authority. The leader manages an organization, and the organization manages the enterprise. |
