Metaphor Inquiry - The Third Domain

We live in a world that has three domains:

  1. Physical-Sensory
  2. Cognitive and
  3. Metaphoric

And these domains use the language of words, memories, symbols and metaphors.

And we live in a world that is making new discoveries about the function of metaphor as part of our operating system. It is well-understood and well studied as a linguistic device. George Lakoff & Mark Johnson are now revealing how metaphor-process underlies much of how we think and operate. And David Grove has opened new doorways into these realms.

When I discovered this work, something powerful happened to me. I felt like I understood myself better. I realized that much of my talent and uniqueness flowed from a natural ability to play with metaphor. Although I had proven my ability in the cognitive domain by acquiring a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, I now realized that much of my accomplishment was created because I enjoyed thinking in metaphors.

So there is a new focus, and a new meaning in my life, and Clean-Decisions is dedicated to exploring how Metaphor Inquiry can help us manage the challenges of our times, whether personal or global in scale.
